Online gambling in Argentina opts for responsible advertising
2 minutos de lectura
(Argentina).- The online gambling industry in Argentina has taken another important step in its fight for a completely safe and regulated activity. On June 10, 60 members of the Argentine State Lottery Association (ALEA) met with representatives of gambling regulatory bodies and companies in the sector to share the Code of Good Practices for Responsible Advertising of Games of Chance Online in Argentina.
It was through a virtual event that this tool was unveiled, which was developed in order to contribute to the adoption of common practices in the matter and help provide greater security for both players and companies that work in this industry.
It is through this code that online gambling in Argentina seeks to take a solid step that benefits the world of virtual casino in the country, being an excellent regulation for its activity and development. It is through responsible advertising that industries will seek to reach an audience, but also invite them to have fun in a responsible way and provide the greatest possible transparency, in addition to providing all the support tools that are necessary.
“Beyond virtuality, in these difficult times in which we have all suffered the loss of a loved one, sharing these activities allows us to see each other. And it is very comforting to see them again”, acknowledged Mario Trucco, CEO of ALEA, upon seeing all the members of this industry again.
The truth is that the arrival of online gambling represented a great challenge in the country, especially due to the enormous growth that they had since the pandemic began, which is why it has become essential to “adapt public prevention policies of pathological gambling and promotion of responsible gambling in the current context.”
The Code of Good Practices for Responsible Online Gaming Advertising in Argentina is structured on five guiding principles, which provide guidelines on responsibility for content, protection of minors, messages on responsible gambling, responsibility for the use of social networks and in the sponsorship of popular or massive activities and events, as well as their applicability, control and review, as these are fundamental aspects for a correct development of the activity and a healthy and safe game.
In addition, this code will be applicable to all game offers and not only to the online mode, although it is true that the digital aspect requires much more effort, largely due to the enormous scope that it can have in this way.
This is why it is important to have common guidelines in communication areas, which is provided by the code, in addition to reinventing the messages that institutions share with society, especially in a society that is constantly changing and whose Paradigms have also changed over time.
Another important point to consider is that the Code will help to delimit a clearer line between legal and illegal gambling, since the existence of Responsible Gaming programs and the code itself provide greater guarantees when playing, in addition to facilitate work to report illegal activities and maintain a safer and more enjoyable environment for the player.
This Code comes at a fundamental moment in the Argentine history of gambling, as the province of Buenos Aires is at a key moment, as it approaches a regularization of its online activity.
We cannot forget that, at the moment, there are 11 provinces that already have a regulation and operation of casinos in their online mode: Chaco, Entre Ríos, Misiones, Río Negro, San Luis, Tucumán, La Pampa, Santa Cruz and Neuquén.
In addition to the province of Buenos Aires, the capital is also in a great advance of the activity, by authorizing the modality in 2019 and being in talks to grant the respective concessions to the Floating Casino and the Palermo Hippodrome, interested in exploiting the online modality.
A case similar to that of Santa Fe, which enabled online gambling for the Santa Fe Casino, Melincué Casino & Resort (of Grupo Peralada and Boldt), and City Center in Rosario, in operation by Cirsa and Inverclub, through the supervision of Caja de Acción Social - Santa Fe Lottery, which will charge around 12 percent of gross results, that is, collection less prizes.
In the case of Salta and Córdoba, they are still in talks to try to find legislation that benefits everyone, while Catamarca, Chubut, Jujuy, La Rioja, San Juan, Santiago del Estero and Tierra del Fuego have not yet regularized the activity, either by political, religious or logistical agenda.
